Fort Wayne was born on The Landing

The Landing is a historic neighborhood and commercial district in downtown Fort Wayne comprised of vibrant, independent businesses and an exciting social atmosphere. Home to Fort Wayne’s first post office, theatre, and hotel, it was on The Landing that our community first became a county, a township—even a city.

The Landing Today

The Landing today is once again the center of downtown’s vibrancy and revitalization. A significant investment was made to preserve the historic architecture, expand residential units available at the site, and modernize commercial spaces. Columbia Street also saw a huge transformation, including removing curbs from the street providing a seamless transition from business to street, repaving, new light fixtures, benches, and landscaping. Gates were erected at each end of Columbia Street allowing it to be closed to vehicular traffic and opened for festivals and events.
